After purchase, a gift certificate will be mailed to you with a unique gift code on it. The recipient will need to enter the gift code in the "Gift Certificate:" box during checkout to receive the gift. Your receipt will also list the gift code, if you prefer to e-mail it to the recipient instead of waiting for the actual gift certificate.
